SHIFT HAPPENS!

I woke up this morning, said my prayers, got my can of Zija from the refrigerator and began my morning meditations.

This morning it came the me that "SHIFT HAPPENS!"

I know, I have heard it before too. I first heard it from Bishop Carlton Pearson. However, this shift that I am talking about is particularly important to Black Gay Men of today.I feel a shift happening in our consciousness. There is a wind of change blowing in the air that is whispering, "Go here. Move there. Try this. Change that." This changing wind is offering us a great opportunity to BE-DO-HAVE more than we ever have as a body of brothers.

In WELLNESS, we are making a dramatic turn-around (back to the old ways) in our thinking. Dr. Robert C. Stone, D.O. has noticed this too. He said that he is excited about the new SHIFT from dis-ease treatment to health promotion. He noticed that we as a collective have begun to change the way we perceive and receive wellness. We have begun to look at overall well-being instead of the problem-solving paradiagm.

We are moving from treating HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, Heart Dis-ease, High Blood Pressure, Poor Eye-sight, Prostate Cancer, etc. to TREATING OURSELVES RIGHT! (By the way, all those things just mentioned are eliminated in a highly, nutrient-rich body) You see? What we put energy into grows. By continually asserting that we need to treat the illness slowly negates Ourselves. That's like saying, "Let me focus on the shadow so that I can know there is a light at my back."

Instead of TREATING the illness, TREAT YOU BETTER. LOVE YOU MORE! Be the best You You can be. You see how this works? Understand, my brothers, this is the only way to make these issues a thing of the past. In this NEW THOUGHT, the LIGHT is in front of you; the shadow is behind.

In our RELATIONSHIPS, we have begun to re-cognize (re-know) that the modality of loveless connections and flesh-driven lusts are not the most work-able of intimacies. The Prophetess Lauryn Hill said it best, "To finally be in love and know the real meaning of a lasting relationship, not based on ownership. I trust every part of you, for all that you say you'll do... Oh, you inspire me, to be the HIGHER ME..." Our connections are getting stronger, more sincere and wonderfully so.

In FINANCES, we have begun to see that an economy driven by consumerism and profiteering is not the best system on which to base our security. The current economic state is testiment and Teacher of this lesson. We have now realized (to understand and make real) true security and stability comes from investing in ones self-actualization, ones BEING-ness, ones education and ones understanding and brotherhood with others. This is the only way poverty, hunger, dis-ease, HIV/AIDS and a host of other ills that plague mankind will no longer have force in our world.

In conclusion, I am convinced and convicted that a SHIFT is HAPPENING in our life-time. We are the trailblazers to a re-shaping of America and the world. So I say, "Dive in - this is some GOOD SHIFT!"
